BEST-MIX insulation available in a 28 lb. bag. It contains NO asbestos and is simply mixed with water and poured around the chimney liner. It then solidifies to a cement like texture providing both stability and insulating value for proper clearance to combustibles. One bag provides 2 cubic feet of insulation. The BEST-MIX Sizing Chart below and the calculation example on the right can help you calculate how much BEST-MIX you need. THERMIX is a masonry material and shares many of its characterisics with this class of building components. THERMIX contains ALL ingredients except water, which has to be added to moisten the material. Proper consistancy is achieved when the material feels damp but is still granular, (approx. 7 to 9 gals. of water / bag)

HOW TO: Slowly add water until the mix holds together when squeezed in your hand. No water should drip out. Pour the mix around the chimney liner and let it cure. Approx 2-4 Gal for BEST-MIX & Approx 7-9 Gal for THERMIX TEST: When a handful of properly wetted BEST-Mix or THERMIX is squeezed hard, little or no water will appear between the fingers. During installation correctly prepared BEST-Mix or THERMIX will pour like “loose fill”. BEST-Mix and THERMIX are distributed within the chimney cavity by vibrating the liners and should not be tamped. CURING: Like other masonry materials, BEST-Mix and THERMIX are fully cured after 28 days. 65% to 75% of this process takes place within the first week after installation. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS: THERMIX and BEST-Mix are not chimney systesm by themselves. Follow the instructions supplied by the manufacturer of the stainless steel lining materials used for the job.
